Urban Bushcare volunteers meet rural Landcarers

North Sydney and Boorowa Councils, NSW

www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au

Each year, a group of enthusiastic volunteers working in urban North Sydney go on a road trip to rural Boorowa Shire, approximately 3½ hours south-west of Sydney.

The North Sydney volunteers visit local farms in the area, meeting local landholders and helping out with revegetation sites. A celebratory BBQ is provided by the Boorowa Council on the last evening.

The trip provides an opportunity for the urban focussed volunteers to learn about and experience the land degradation problems faced by this rural part of Australia. In turn the landholders hear about the land management issues faced in urban areas.
