Selection criteria for volunteers

To build a strong volunteer workforce, the right people need to be matched with the right jobs.
Volunteers can make an enormous contribution to your organisation, when you get the match right.

Selection of volunteers should comply with Equal Employment and Anti-Discrimination legislation.

Examples of selection criteria

(essential or desirable, depending on the task):
  • Interest in environmental issues
  • Willingness to learn, contribute and work co-operatively with others
  • Computer skills
  • Internet literacy
  • Own transport to travel to the job
  • Disclosure of information to comply with child protection legislation
  • A good level of health & fitness (particularly for manual labour and outdoor work)
  • First Aid Certificate
