Work permits for volunteers
A permit system can be used to authorise volunteers to work at a site or on a specific task.
A volunteer may need to meet basic orientation and training requirements before receiving a permit.

Tip

The permit system can be beneficial when managing large numbers of volunteers, in order to keep track of everyone.

Some organisations with smaller numbers of volunteers have less formal procedures where volunteers can go to any scheduled work day and sign the attendance record on the day. A permit system may not be needed in this case.

A permit can be in the form of a laminated card that the volunteer has with them when working.
