The Walks and Talks Working Group brings AABR’s mission to life—on the ground, in the bush, and through shared stories.

We coordinate guided walks, site visits, and yarns that showcase ecological restoration in action, with a special focus on natural-assisted regeneration (bush regeneration). These events give members, volunteers, practitioners and curious community members the chance to explore restoration projects firsthand, connect with other regen folk, and share best practice knowledge in real places, with real people.

Our monthly events are collaborative, community-focused, and open to all. We work with local land managers, AABR members, First Nations groups and other aligned organisations to support a thriving and skilled restoration network. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been in the bush for decades—there’s something here for you.

The Working Group meets monthly to plan, share and support Walks and Talks across regions. We also contribute stories and insights to the AABR newsletter and other communications—so the learnings from each walk go further than the track.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Expression of Interest – AABR 40th Anniversary Events Calendar (2026)

As part of AABR’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2026, we’re inviting members and supporters to propose events that showcase the depth and diversity of bush regeneration across Australia. Whether you’d like to:

  • Showcase your site and highlight restoration achievements

  • Promote a project and share lessons learned

  • Workshop a tricky site and spark discussion on strategies and solutions

…we’d love to hear from you!

Please complete this EOI with details of your proposed event (location, format, timing, and key contacts). Submissions will help us shape a national celebratory calendar that reflects the knowledge, creativity, and passion of the bush regeneration community.
