NSW/ACT Branch Formation – Objectives and Deliverables
The formation of the NSW/ACT Branch of the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators (AABR) is a timely and strategic initiative to strengthen professional engagement, elevate the profile of ecological restoration, and support local practitioners through advocacy, education, and recognition.

Objectives
- Outreach & Awareness
Engage bush regenerators across NSW and the ACT—especially those unfamiliar with AABR or unsure of its relevance—through events, communications, and peer connection. - Events & Professional Development
Contribute to AABR’s popular Walks & Talks program and establish local pathways for professional development and training opportunities in the ecological restoration industry. - Policy & Advocacy
Coordinate a NSW/ACT-specific response to the State of the Environment Report 2021, addressing critical themes such as Land, Urban Development, and Indigenous perspectives. Champion bush regeneration as a central strategy in climate adaptation and ecological recovery. - Funding & Sustainability
Develop and support sustainable funding models to enhance participation and underpin the administration of ecological restoration projects and initiatives.
Deliverables
- Regular Engagement & Events
Host local events including symposiums, stalls, Walks & Talks, and other community engagement activities to bring regenerators together. - Industry Recognition & Best Practice
Promote excellence and innovation—exploring initiatives such as a NSW Bush Regeneration Award to spotlight industry leadership. - Strategic Advocacy Efforts
Lead efforts to ensure the ecological restoration profession—particularly bush regeneration—is clearly understood, valued, and maintained in state and territory policy frameworks, including within the ACT. - Sustainable Industry Development
Support the sector through increased awareness, support for AABR accreditation, and advocacy for improved working conditions and pay. - Contributions to AABR Communications
Provide content for AABR publications, including the website, eNews, and the quarterly newsletter, showcasing local initiatives, stories, and issues.
