Position Title: Bush Regenerator Supervisor & Crew Member, Trained

Location: Sydney Eastern Area

Employment Type: Casual, 7-hour day position 

Job Description: 

As a trained Bush Regenerator Supervisor & Crew Member, you will be working hands-on in the field alongside other experienced Bush Regenerators, playing a vital role in the preservation and restoration of the natural habitats. Some flexibility is required in this role, since some days may require you to be working as a supervisor and other days you may be needed to work as a crew member, dependant on rostering requirements. A willingness to travel to Sydney’s eastern area and possibly the north or west at times is a must and having your own vehicle is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bush Regeneration: Guiding a team to undertake tasks related to bush regeneration activities such as weed control, revegetation, and erosion control.
  1. Weed Identification and Management: Identifying native and invasive weed species and apply appropriate control methods, including herbicide application.
  1. Revegetation: Assist in the planting of native vegetation to restore degraded areas and enhance biodiversity.
  1. Erosion Control: Participate in erosion control activities to prevent soil degradation and preserve the integrity of natural landscapes.
  1. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Essential Requirements:

You need to have the drive, passion, and ability to work well with a team, implementing best practice in enhancing our natural bushland areas.

  • TAFE Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystems Management or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in bush regeneration fieldwork, with a very good understanding of bush regeneration. A good working knowledge with different remnant vegetation communities.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a supervisor of a team of bush regenerators.
  • Good communication skills. Own mobile phone and computer.
  • Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word and Excel.
  • Good plant identification skills.
  • Must be physically fit and not afraid of hard work.
  • Problem solving skills and adaptability.
  • Practical knowledge of work, health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and own transport.
  • ChemCERT or equivalent (AQF3).
  • First Aid Certificate & CPR Certification.
  • White card.

Desirable requirements:

  • Chainsaw certificate.
