The Ecological Restoration Integrated Knowledge (ERIK) project steering committee has been taking some time investigating appropriate IT platforms for sharing best practice information and guidance. This task became more complex because of rapidly changing technology.

To ensure that good quality information and guidance is available on the platform, we’re thrilled to be forming Expert Panels focussed on these specific vegetation types.

  • Rainforest – including cool temperate, subtropical, dry and littoral
  • Wet Sclerophyll – including grassy and shrubby sub formations
  • Dry Sclerophyll – including shrub/grassy and shrubby formations
  • Grassy Woodlands
  • Grasslands
  • Forested Wetlands
  • Freshwater Wetlands
  • Saline wetlands
  • Heathlands
  • Alpine Complex
  • Semi-arid woodlands – including grassy and shrubby sub formations
  • Arid Shrublands – including Acacia and Chenopod sub formations

The first activity to be undertaken by the panels is the assessment of the quality of resources against clear criteria using an online form.

We’d also like to hear suggestions of improvements needed to resources, and suggestions of new resources needing to be developed.

Joining an Expert Panel is a great opportunity to contribute to the improvement of ecological restoration practices. If panel members wish to discuss details amongst their peers, we can also facilitate online discussions and convene meetings at their request.

The level of involvement is entirely up to each panel member themselves, and members can opt in and out of activities as they wish.

If you’d like to join an Expert Panel, even just to assess resources at the outset, or would like more information, contact Sandy Eager, ERIK Co-ordinator, via projects@aabr.org.au
