Guided Walk at Chilworth Reserve with Sheila Woods: local Bushcare volunteer champion.
Join us on Saturday 30th May for a guided walk through Chilworth Reserve, led by long-time Bushcare volunteer Sheila Woods and Hornsby Shire Council Bushcare Officer Jean-Philippe Kecman.
Sheila has been involved in bush regeneration and conservation advocacy in the Beecroft and Cheltenham areas for over 50 years. Sheila volunteers with 4 Bushcare groups in the area. She is a natural bushland custodian, a tireless Bushcare ambassador and mentor, building long-term relationships with local residents and always advocating for the preservation of the local bushland for the community to enjoy.
The Hornsby Council Chilworth Bushcare Group has met continuously every Friday since 1992 under Sheila’s guidance. Learn about the restoration work and history of this site, which is home to one of Sydney’s earliest bush regeneration groups, started by John Noble in 1965.
Time: Meet at 10:30am for an 11:00am start.
Location: Chilworth Reserve (Beecroft, NSW).
Meeting point: meet at the bottom of the steps at the end of Austral Avenue (Beecroft).
Public transport: 14min walk from Beecroft train station.
Parking: Austral Avenue (Beecroft). Please be considerate of local residents’ driveways when parking.
Length of walk and incline: 2km long – 2.5 grade (easy to moderately challenging).

What to Bring
Please bring a drink bottle, appropriate bushwalking clothing and PPE (hat, long sleeves and trousers, enclosed shoes, sunscreen, raincoat), and a picnic lunch to enjoy together after the walk. Light morning tea will be provided on arrival.
