AABR’s 40/40 Forum- Where Experience informs the Future of Ecological Restoration.
What have the first 40 years taught us, and what must we do differently over the next 40?
In 2026 AABR celebrates 40 years of championing bush regeneration and ecological restoration across Australia.
To mark this milestone, we’re bringing together the people who have shaped our profession—and those who will lead it into the future.
The 40/40 Forum, to be held on Friday 27 November 2026 at the Teachers Federation Conference Centre in Sydney, is more than an anniversary event. It’s a national conversation about the future of restoration. Together we’ll explore how decades of practical experience, scientific knowledge and community action can help meet the challenges of biodiversity decline, climate change and landscape repair over the next forty years.
Join bush regeneration practitioners, Traditional Custodians, researchers, councils, environmental managers, volunteers, educators and policy makers for a day of inspiring speakers, practical insights and forward-looking discussion. The forum will be complemented by a full day of Working Group and Special Interest workshops on Thursday 26 November, providing opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge and help shape AABR’s future direction.
Whether you’ve been part of AABR since the beginning or are just starting your restoration journey, the 40/40 Forum is your opportunity to celebrate our shared achievements, strengthen professional connections and help define what successful ecological restoration looks like over the next 40 years.
Help Shape AABR’s 40/40 Forum- Join the organising team
AABR’s 40/40 Forum will be a celebration of the past and a conversation about the future of bush regeneration and ecological restoration. To make it happen, we’re looking for enthusiastic members to join the organising team.
Helping organise the forum is a great way to connect with other AABR members, build your professional network and contribute to an event that will help shape our industry. Whether you’re keen to develop new skills or put your existing talents to work in a different way, there’s a place for you on the team.
AABR has always been a member-driven organisation. Together, we consistently punch above our weight and achieve remarkable things. And you won’t be doing it alone. We’ve delivered successful forums before, and with each one we learn, improve and build on what came before.
