The ACRN warmly invite your abstracts for the 2026 ACRN Symposium — Future-proofing restoration

Abstracts for short talks will be welcomed under the following themes:

  1. People & Communities
  2. Governance, Coordination & Funding
  3. Environment & Future-Climate
  4. Tools, technologies and approaches

As we partner with SERA 2026 this year to grow connections among restoration actors across Australasia, the ACRN symposium program will be slightly more focused than usual—meaning we’ll be selective in curating talks to make the most of our time together. To showcase as much of your research as possible, talks will be in a ‘short-talk’ format this year (length TBD).

We are also accepting abstracts for Science at First Sight, a science communication event, first held at the 2025 ACRN Symposium in Canberra. Taking place at a local pub or venue, it works like a rotating speed-dating format: presenters set up at stations around the room, and small audience groups move between them, spending up to 5 minutes at each station watching a presenter explain their research using props of their choice. Once every group has visited every presenter, the audience votes for their favourite, awarded as the ‘ACRN 2026 People’s Choice Sci-Comm Award’. Think FameLabstyle science communication, but in an informal, social setting.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be offering a Student Travel Award, kindly supported by Blue Conservation Services, to attend this year’s symposium.

How to apply:
