End of Year Garden Visits, Walk & Talk & Picnic

Join us for a relaxed end-of-year social gathering with AABR, set just north of Sydney. We’ll begin the morning in Cowan, meeting at a local bushcare site to discuss the bush regeneration approaches used in the area. From there, we’ll take a short stroll to visit two nearby native gardens, both owned and cared for by active AABR members, an opportunity to see local species thriving in a home-garden context and chat informally about techniques, challenges, and inspirations.

Following this, we’ll drive to Brooklyn Park/Oval (opposite Public School) to walk along the elevated Brooklyn boardwalk through mangroves, salt-marsh and bushland (about 100 m). We’ll finish the day with a laid-back picnic lunch in Brooklyn Park.

Location

Starting point Cowan, finish point Brooklyn, NSW.

Meeting point: Just past RFS Station, 23-29 View Street Cowan, NSW 2081.

Parking: along View St verge, past the RFS Station (adjacent to the View St Bushcare site).

Public transport: Meeting point is a 13 minute walk from Cowan station. To get to the second activity of the day will require transport by car. Carpooling is encouraged and can be coordinated through the event host. Finishing point is located Ikm from the Hawkesbury River Station .

What to Bring

Bring your own lunch, or you can purchase food from the local shops in Brooklyn.

Bring plenty of water, sun protection, comfortable outdoor clothing, and a folding chair or picnic blanket so you can relax and enjoy the afternoon.

Exertion level

This is a lightly active but very social day, perfect for winding down the year with like-minded bush regenerators.
