What is AABR accreditation and why was it the foundation AABR was built upon?

At the core of AABR’s existence is the accreditation system, recognition of the skills and experience gained from understanding and practicing resilience-based bush regeneration.

When AABR was founded in 1986 all members were accredited bush regeneration practitioners. To assuage concerns that AABR membership was ‘exclusive’ a general membership category was introduced in 2012, providing an avenue for anyone with an interest in bush regeneration practices to join AABR.

Over the past decade AABR membership has steadily grown and more recently there has been an increase in the demand for bush regenerators with a knowledge and skill set exemplified by AABR’s 12 Competencies and recognised via AABR awarded accreditation.

To meet the growing demand AABR is encouraging experienced bush regeneration practitioners to consider supporting the bush regen sector in delivering quality and becoming an assessor.

One of AABR’s goals during this UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration is to have scalable systems that support and facilitate bush regeneration practitioners to deliver optimal outcomes, so that the ecosystems they work in and care for have the best possible chance of recovery along the restoration continuum.

If you are an experienced bush regeneration practitioner and would like to discuss what is involved in becoming an assessor please contact Tein McDonald, the Chair of AABR’s Accreditation Subcommittee- teinm@ozemail.com.au or have a chat 0458 565 654

There are a series of short videos in production to explain the purpose and significance of AABR’s Accreditation system.

Practicing accredited bush regenerators, land managers and business owners share their views on the importance and value of AABR’s Accreditation for bush regeneration practitioners.
