Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub was the 1st ecological community listed as threatened in NSW. Come and see how fire is being used to manage its natural regeneration. And see what happened when a fire got out of control in 2020.

This walk and talk will take place at the spectacular North Head Sanctuary – the best site to visit ESBS. Our route will follow existing tracks, much of which is on elevated boardwalks. Flowering of many species is due to have started. Also expect excellent views across the harbour and northern beaches.

The walk will be led by experienced bush regenerator, Peter Jensen, Environment Officer for Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, who has managed the site for the past 19 years.

Site Capacity – 20

The meeting point is the Gunner Road carpark.

Keeping calm with COVID

AABR will continue to ensure all events are as COVID safe as possible, will comply with all COVID rules and will communicate all requirements prior to events.

COVID conditions

To fulfill AABR’s duty of care to our members and attendees at our events

  • AABR encourages participants to be at least double-vaccinated or have a medical contraindication.
  • AABR will require attendees to register on-site with our QR code.
  • Personal hygiene is encouraged, and masks will be worn where social distancing is not possible, good hand hygiene is always a bonus.
  • Although the public health orders now permit entry to businesses for people who are not fully vaccinated, some businesses may make it a condition of entry that you are fully vaccinated or wear a face mask. AABR will comply with any additional requirements of indoor venues that we use to host workshops.
  • AABR will have a COVID safety plan for each activity, made available to attendees so they can manage their risks.
  • Attendees are not to attend an AABR event if they are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, have been in contact within the past two weeks with someone exhibiting symptoms, or have been in an area identified as having active cases of COVID-19.
