Harry Rose, the Grass Guru, is back by popular demand to assist bush regenerators with their grass identification. Not wanting to overlook the understory this instructional talk and exploratory walk provides both a session on the theory behind grass ID and field trip to put the theory into practice. The four hour session will delve into the grasses of coastal NSW around the Sydney-Hunter region  where you’ll learn how to recognise native and invasive grasses and methods to manage them. You can even bring along flowering grasses that you’d like identified.

Copies of Grasses of Coastal NSW will be available for purchase for $20.

What will you learn the day?

The desired learning outcomes include;

  • Recognising key features of grasses that are important for identification
  • Recognising a range of native and introduced grasses which occur in and around remnant vegetation areas
  • Recognising grasses posing a current and future threat to remnant vegetation regeneration and maintenance
  • Gaining knowledge on the management of different species
  • Learning how to use the reference book Grasses of coastal NSW by Harry Rose

A morning tea break is included to provide an opportunity to connect with other bush regenerators.
