Ku-ring-gai Chase NP – soil types and their influence upon vegetation & fauna communities

| FreeJoin us for a day of exploration and stunning vistas as we witness the influence of soil types upon vegetation communities and their faunal inhabitants.
Ecologist & bush regenerator Jayden Walsh has spent the better part of a decade researching the ecology of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park (KCNP) and will lead us on a day walk allowing a glimpse into the incredible biogeography of KCNP.
Some highlights will include Eucalyptus camfieldii, 176mya dyke and the views from West Head lookout.
What to wear
- Suitable sun safe clothing.
- Something warm and weather proof in case of a change in the weather
What to bring
- Food for the day.
- Water to drink
- Personal 1st aid items, bandaids, insect repellent, sunscreen
Where to meet
- Meet at Elvina trailhead carpark at 8:00am.
- Moderate fitness required for Waratah Track (8km return) with minor footpad scrambling.
- Total distance for the day 10km.
- Finish time ~4pm
Cost
Whilst there is no charge for this event, as it is being held in a National Park, an affordable donation is always welcome to support the organisation and promotion of the event.
