Project Description

Full title: Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan – progress with revegetation and remnant protection to act as offsets for major developments in western Sydney.

Department of Planning, Industry and Environment is developing a Cumberland Plain Conservation Plan (the Plan) that aims to improve the functionality and connectedness of the fragmented Cumberland subregion ecosystems in Western Sydney in the context of urban and infrastructure development.

The Plan will seek to protect viable existing vegetation and use ecological restoration in degraded habitats to improve viability and connectivity. The restoration would require seed stock for ground cover, shrubs, and trees.

DPIE is considering how best to ensure supply of seed and tube stock in suitable quantity and diversity to deliver project outcomes.

Greg’s expertise is in environmental assessment – in particular in vegetation assessment, monitoring and plant identification. He’s been involved in regional and state-scale vegetation mapping projects. With a strong background in geology, governance & policy, environmental restoration & rehabilitation, as well as community & adult education, Greg has developed wide-ranging and productive relationships with community, industry, local government and consultants as a means of ensuring outcomes.
