Project Description

With space for ecosystems limited in cities – is there potential for green roofs to be developed to supplement conservation?

This potential research project will be trialling a number of species on a roof on University of NSW campus, obtaining genetic stock from Randwick Council’s community nursery.

John is a lecturer/tutor and researcher at the Faculty of Built Environment, UNSW. He has worked there since returning from Indonesia in 2011 where he worked on climate change mitigation.

Recently he has been investigating diesel emissions on construction sites, the carbon sequestration and storage potential of the Sydney rail network as well as the conservation of the Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub.
