Getting to Know Your Grasses

Grasses. Subtle. Diverse. Often overlooked—until they’re not.

Join us for a hands-on day of learning with Harry Rose, author of Grasses of Coastal NSW, as we build confidence in identifying and managing grasses across the Sydney region. This workshop blends a clear, practical introduction to grass structure with time in the field—because nothing beats seeing it in situ.

We’ll focus on recognising key diagnostic features, distinguishing native species from invasive threats, and understanding how grass composition shapes ecosystem recovery. In line with best practice bush regeneration, we’ll explore how species composition and threat management influence restoration outcomes .

Got a mystery grass? Bring along flowering specimens for ID on the day.

Copies of Grasses of Coastal NSW will be available for purchase.
