Research & Management

Presenters Call Out
Grassland Resurrection is a one-day forum bringing together practitioners, researchers, Traditional Owners, land managers and community custodians working with grasslands across Victoria.
The forum is case-study led and practitioner focused, creating space to share real experiences of managing grassy ecosystems — including successes, challenges, trade-offs and lessons learned over time. Presentations will connect on-ground practice with science and lived knowledge, recognising grasslands as complex systems shaped by management decisions.
We are inviting presenters to contribute short, sharp talks (5–10 minutes), longer presentations (up to 30 minutes), or poster-style case studies. We aim to finalise the the presenters by mid-March
EOI Submissions are due by 16 March – Complete the form
If you have a Victorian-focused grassy regeneration story that emphasises on-ground practice, is supported by science, explores real trade-offs in grassland management, or offers a meaningful First Nations perspective embedded in planning and delivery, we’d love to hear from you.
Grassland Resurrection is co-hosted by AABR Victoria, the Grassy Plains Network (VNPA) and the Merri Creek Management Committee.
Seeking sponsors
The Grassland Resurrection forum is a practitioner-led forum bringing together bush regenerators, Traditional Owners, ecologists, land managers, planners and decision-makers working with grassy ecosystems across Victoria.
We’re inviting sponsors to support this important gathering and stand alongside best-practice ecological restoration.
Sponsoring the forum offers:

• Direct connection with practitioners, agencies and consultants delivering on-ground outcomes
• Visibility through pre-event promotion, forum recognition and RegenTV video content
• Association with a collaborative event co-hosted by AABR Victoria, Grassy Plains Network (VNPA) and Merri Creek Management Committee
A sponsor’s outcomes report from the 2024 R’s of Restoration Forum is here.

Forum Overview
Victoria’s grasslands are among the most endangered ecosystems on the continent. Less than two per cent remain. Yet across the state, practitioners, researchers, Traditional Owners and community stewards are keeping these systems alive through careful, adaptive management.
Grassland Resurrection brings that collective knowledge into one room.
This one-day forum will focus on what actually works on the ground. Expect practitioner-led case studies, hard-won lessons, and honest conversations about trade-offs, uncertainty and decision-making in complex grassy systems. Topics under development include biomass management, weeds, fauna, fire, grazing, monitoring, restoration by seed, and the economics of grassland care, all grounded in Victorian contexts, with relevance beyond state borders.
The program is being developed collaboratively by the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators (AABR Vic), the Grassy Plains Network (VNPA) and Merri Creek Management Committee, with venue support from Yarra City Council and involvement from land managers, councils, researchers and First Nations representatives. Indigenous perspectives, applied science and practitioner experience will sit side by side, because resilient grasslands demand all three.
Planning is underway and speakers are currently being confirmed. More details will be released as the program takes shape. What we can say now: the last AABR Vic forum sold out, and this one will too.
If you work in bush regeneration, land management, ecology, planning, research, or you care deeply about the future of Victoria’s grasslands, this is a day to be part of.
Come for the knowledge. Stay for the conversations. Leave with sharper tools for grassy country and an expanded network of grassland enthusiasts.
